Today is going to be one of those days: when my BNI networking meeting mixes with kids. I’m the President of our Mission Possible BNI chapter, here in Southern California. We meet for lunch every Wednesday - and it just so happens to be the day our eldest son gets out of school early - and we only have one car. So, how do I manage to be in two places at the same time? Some women love flowers from their spouse, but give me gas any day!
Today I woke-up thinking it was 5am, and started getting ready for the busy day ahead: take kids to school, drive 2 hours to San Diego for a Networking event, drive back, pick-up kids, email, phone calls, etc. I had about 1 1/2 hours before the kids needed to get up and so I took my time. And then my husband comes in and states there isn’t anything for the kids lunches. “That’s fine,” I say, “I’ll run out now and be back before 6:30.” He looked at me oddly and said, “But, it’s 6:45 now.” (more…)

Yesterday, both of our boys woke-up with the stomach bug. This was not the most convenient time to have to take time-off to take care of them both:
-Nirzhar was trying to finish several websites
-I had a class to teach, meet a potential client, and return phone calls/emails

Yes! It’s Friday, the last day of Winter Vacation for our kids! Having your children home from school for long periods of time can be stressful for the entrepreneur parent and boring for the vacationers. Here’s how we recently handled the 2 week vacation:
-First, relax…I thought of these past two weeks as a mini vacation in which I took some days off to be with my children fully. Anxiety levels can raise as emails and voice mails start to pile-up as work days are shorter, so to calm these feelings I let our clients know that we would be having shortened work days and certain days off to spend with family.
